Summary

This book kind of wallops you in the face with its lessons, but honestly it's 2021 and I am in mid-life crisis mode maybe? So I was up for a good lesson about how absurd it is to wallow in your regrets。 The audio is read by Carey Mulligan, who does a fantastic job。 This book kind of wallops you in the face with its lessons, but honestly it's 2021 and I am in mid-life crisis mode maybe? I enjoyed humans so was looking forward to this one。 Started out great, I hated it for a bit, then I liked it, then it got really stupid。 I enjoyed it though, very engaging。

No thanks

This book is the “It’s a Wonderful Life” of books。 But without the charm and whimsy of the Christmas movie。 I’m not sure what lesson we are supposed to learn。 Is it ‘all roads lead to happiness’ ? Is it ‘no roads lead to happiness’? I don’t know。 What I do know is that we are supposed to assume that the happiness of the narcissistic, prattling main character IS the most important thing in life。

Oh goodness what is this book? A very unique novel。 I’ve never read anything quite like it。 Nora is unhappy, but has the chance to see what her other life choices could be。

If you haven't already read this book then I really recommend it。 Suspend belief and look for the message behind the book - what is important in your life? I’ve followed Matt Haig for a while on social media yet never read any of his books, until now。 After the first 5 pages I knew I was going to be bummed when the book ended and I was。 I really enjoyed the plot and the characters and the storyline。 Will say there is a TW for suicide though。

I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed this book。 Picking it up not because it was on a shelf of any sort but because of book club, I was hesitant。。。。 but I’m glad I read it。 It has a heartfelt ending。I would’ve liked to see more of an emphasis on depression。 I felt like the ending left some to be desired as it’s an ongoing process, there’s no quick solution to depression。All in all, the dynamism of Nora Seed and her life lesson will be planted within (see what I did there?)。

Sometimes books, like people, come into your life at precisely the right moment。 They could sit on your shelf for awhile, years even, before you decide to pick it up and give it a go。 As someone who finally decided to get some help with her mental health; this book was it for me。 It reminded me that I am a volcano。 I can plant a forest inside myself。

After I read this book, I went straight to my mother’s room and started to cry。 I kept crying, saying “Please don’t leave me, I love you!” and she just laughed and said I love you back。 I even texted my brother and father saying that I love them no matter what。 If you read this book, you’ll understand the value of your choices in life。 Whether you believe in parallel universes or not, you’ll still understand fully your value。 I truly hope that you get something out of reading this。

I definitely had issues with this book (extremely heavy handed, Nora more of a tool than a believable character, plain writing), but the end was decent。 And overall I appreciated the intent of the book。 I think it serves an important purpose。

Loved this story!! I can't give it the full 5 stars because of so many F-bombs (WHY?!!) but the idea of the multiverse, and Nora learning about life by getting to try on different versions of her life? Yes!! Loved it! Great premise, and it's not that I didn't enjoy it, but it was a really predictable ending to me maybe because I've already figured this out about life :-) Great premise, and it's not that I didn't enjoy it, but it was a really predictable ending to me maybe because I've already figured this out about life :-) 。。。more

When researching this book before I started it, I saw that the author has struggled with mental health and many of his books discuss mental health, which I loved and greatly appreciated before diving in。 The book starts out with the main character, Nora, contemplating ending her life。 Then she is transported back to the midnight library where she is able to transport to different lives she could have possibly lived。 It sounds more science fiction than it actually felt like when I was reading it。 When researching this book before I started it, I saw that the author has struggled with mental health and many of his books discuss mental health, which I loved and greatly appreciated before diving in。 The book starts out with the main character, Nora, contemplating ending her life。 Then she is transported back to the midnight library where she is able to transport to different lives she could have possibly lived。 It sounds more science fiction than it actually felt like when I was reading it。 She is transported into her different lives and shown that small decisions can have a large impact on the rest of her life and the lives of others。 In many of the story lines, she can see the impact her decisions would ultimately have on her friends and family。 I liked the different story lines and it was great to see how her different lives turned out。 But for some reason, this book just did not hook me as much as I was hoping。 I was hoping it was going to be a little more emotional maybe than it actually turned out being。 Either way, it was a good book, not my absolute favorite! 。。。more

I am a teenager。 I was so scared of making important life decisions with the fear of having regrets。 However this book changed my perspective to everything。 "We don't have to play every game to know what winning feels like。。。 love and laughter and fear and pain are universal currencies。" was my favorite quote。 10/10 recommend teenagers to read it。 I am a teenager。 I was so scared of making important life decisions with the fear of having regrets。 However this book changed my perspective to everything。 "We don't have to play every game to know what winning feels like。。。 love and laughter and fear and pain are universal currencies。" was my favorite quote。 10/10 recommend teenagers to read it。 。。。more

The sky grows darkThe black over blueYet the stars still dareTo shine for you。" 。。。more

Absolutely incredible。 What an amazing audio book and inspiring story。 Just when you think the story is headed one way, it takes another turn。 The ending was a little obvious throughout but the twists and turns to get there I did not expect and I thoroughly enjoyed! There are so many little quotes throughout that have you contemplating life and make you a little philosophical。 5 stars! Would definitely recommend!

Mildly predictable but still a good lesson to relearn。 Cute story。
